Alternate & Proxy Information

The appointment of an Alternate

(please refer to clause K.17 of the LNP Constitution)

FDCs and accredited SECs

Where an FDC Chair or accredited SEC Chair is unable to attend State Council, or attends as a State Councillor in another capacity, then the Deputy Chair is entitled to take the place of the Chair as their alternate.

Confirmation of the Chair’s absence or registration in another capacity must be emailed to [email protected].

In the event the Deputy Chair cannot attend or attends in another capacity, then the Chair can appoint a member of the FDC or SEC as their alternate.

Confirmation of the appointment must be emailed to [email protected].

Active Policy Committees

Where an Active Policy Committee Chair is unable to attend State Council, or attends as a State Councillor in another capacity, then the Chair can appoint a member of the Policy Committee as their alternate.

The member appointed must have been a member of the Policy Committee for a period of not less than six months.

The appointment of a Proxy

(please refer to clause K.18 of the LNP Constitution)

Where a State Councillor (other than an FDC Chair, accredited SEC Chair, or Active Policy Committee Chair) ordinarily resides not less than 300km from the place of State Council and is absent, then any Member residing within the same Federal Division can hold and exercise a proxy for the absent State Councillor provided that the State Councillor lodges written authorisation of the proxy with the State Director.

Please note that proxies are limited to two per State Councillor.
